|Strong Women, Strong Hearts||
In an effort to raise community awareness regarding women and heart disease, cardiovascular nursing and ancillary services is organizing Upstate Medical University's second annual "Strong Women Strong Hearts" event. This event will be held on Saturday February 2nd, 2013 at the Oasis Healthlink Center from 10am to 4pm. This event is free to the public. Last year we had over 300 people attend. This year we are anticipating over 500 people. This event will feature lectures about women and heart disease, heart failure, and peripheral vascular disease. This lectures will be presented by Upstate's physicians: Dr. Luna Bhatta, Dr. Robert Carhart, and Dr. Michael Costanza, respectively. There will also be speakers for stress management, behavior modification, and naturopathy. We provide these lectures and other services including education, health screenings, and dietary teaching free of charge to women of the community. Stress management will also be discussed, incorporating therapeutic massage, yoga, meditation, and Reiki therapy. In addition to the above there will be various vendors and foods to sample.
